Not a big story in a game in Tokyo where 7th ranked Tochigi Brex (5-17) was defeated by fourth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (12-10) 63-58 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tochigi Brex won third quarter 15-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Hitachi Sunrockers won last quarter 22-19. Tochigi Brex was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Daisuke Kobayashi (188-87) helped adding 14 points. International forward Tomoo Amino (196-80) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and American power forward Tyler Smith (203-80, college: Penn St.) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Tochigi Brex's coach Antanas Sireika tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Hitachi Sunrockers. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Panasonic T. Tochigi Brex lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 17 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face bottom-ranked Hokkaido L. (#8) in Saporro in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Tochigi Brex will play at home against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya.
