Regular Season Round 14: Denain - Nantes 76-74

Important game to mention about took place in Denain. Fifteenth ranked Denain Voltaire (5-9) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 13th ranked Nantes (5-9) 76-74 in the fight for the fourteenth place. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nantes won third quarter 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nantes was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Clement Cavallo (199-90) scored 22 points to lead the charge for the winners and guard Xavier Gaillou (192-89) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists during the contest. American power forward James Mathis (200-84, college: Niagara, agency: Court Side) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and his fellow American import guard LaMarshall Corbett (190-88, college: Angelo St.) scored 19 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nantes' coach Guillaume Quintard tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Denain Voltaire moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Nantes and Charleville. Nantes lost third consecutive game. Denain Voltaire will face higher ranked ALM Evreux (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
