Regular Season Round 14: Lille - St Vallier 84-72

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Saint Vallier (6-8) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Lille Metropole (6-8) 84-72 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 28-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. American Steve Smith (200-81, college: Iona) had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import Jason Siggers (188-85, college: Albany) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. American-Ivorian guard Errick Craven (188-83, college: USC) responded with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American Corey Rouse (204-84, college: E.Carolina, agency: Court Side) scored 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lille Metropole moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with St Vallier and Rouen. Saint Vallier lost third consecutive game. Lille Metropole will face higher ranked Saint-Quentin (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
