Regular Season Round 9: Sokhumi - TSU Tbilisi 78-92

Rather expected game in Tbilisi where 9th ranked Sokhumi (1-7) was defeated by seventh ranked TSU (4-5) 92-78 on Saturday. Sokhumi was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Givi Bakradze (185-91) stepped up and scored 22 points and 5 assists for the winners and guard George Khaniashvili (194-89) chipped in 20 points. The best for the losing side was forward Irakli Chlaidze (199-89) with 30 points and 5 assists and center Vakhtang Kadaria (205-89, college: Mineral Area CC) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sokhumi's coach Vazha Kvaratskhelia rotated ten players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. TSU maintains seventh place with 4-5 record. Loser Sokhumi keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. TSU will face higher ranked Kutaisi (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Samedicino-Academia.
