Very expected game when 14th ranked Suzano (2-5) was smashed by Sao Jose/Vinac (5-2) in Sao Paulo 100-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Sao Jose/Vinac. Suzano was better in third quarter 32-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Sao Jose/Vinac won last quarter 32-14. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Suzano's 40 and made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Suzano 42-23 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Sao Jose/Vinac looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sao Jose/Vinac made 9 blocks. Center Deivisson Costa (211-80) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds. The former international guard Fulvio de Assis (187-81) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 6 rebounds and 17 assists for the winners. Forward Rafael Fusco (192-78) replied with 29 points and 4 assists and guard Jefferson Campos (190-91) added 15 points and 8 assists in the effort for Suzano. Five Sao Jose/Vinac and four Suzano players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Sao Jose/Vinac went down to fourth position due to points difference, which they share with Uberlandia. Loser Suzano dropped to the fifteenth place with five games lost. Sao Jose/Vinac will face higher ranked Pinheiros/Sky (#3) in Sao Paolo in the next round and it may be the game of the week.
