There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Notec (3-6) won against higher ranked Trefl II Sopot (4-5) in Inowroclaw 71-66 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 30-14. But Trefl II Sopot won second period 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Notec won last quarter 14-10. Forward Hubert Wierzbicki (196-91, agency: Promotex) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Mikolaj Grod (194-89) contributed with 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. David Brembly (197-93) answered with 22 points and 7 rebounds and forward Aleksander Lebiedzinski (194-93) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Trefl II Sopot. Trefl II Sopot's coach Marcin Lichtanski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Notec moved-up to eighth place in Group A, which they share with GTK Gdynia. Loser Trefl II Sopot keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Notec will face higher ranked Korsarz Gdansk (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Trefl II Sopot will play against the league's second-placed SMS PZKosz and will have a slim chance for a victory.
