The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Aishin Sea Horses as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Aishin Sea Horses defeated leader Toyota Alvark in Kariya 71-63. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It was an exceptional evening for the former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Jamaican center Kevin Young (206-84, college: Missouri) accounted for 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Toyota Alvark in the defeat. The victory was the twelfth consecutive win for Aishin Sea Horses. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Defending champion Toyota Alvark dropped to the second place with four games lost. Toyota Alvark will play next round against Toshiba Thunders trying to get back on the winning streak. Aishin Sea Horses will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Tochigi Brex on the road.
