Regular Season Round 9: Oostende - Liege 86-85

Important game to mention about took place in Oostende. Fifth ranked Base Oostende (5-4) saved a 1-point victory at home edging 4th placed Liege Basket (4-5) 86-85 in the game for the fourth place. It looked good early as Liege Basket took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Base Oostende had a 20-18 second period charge getting the lead and Liege Basket was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 85-86. Base Oostende players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American Wesley Wilkinson (207-84, college: Nebraska) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and Croatian-German swingman Mario Stojic (198-80, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was international forward Wen Boss Mukubu (198-83, college: UAB, agency: SportsTalent) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and the former international point guard Lionel Bosco (176-81, agency: Court Side) scored 16 points and 6 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Liege Basket's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Liege Basket at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Antwerp. Base Oostende will play against higher ranked Spirou Charleroi (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Liege Basket will play against the league's leader Belfius Mons-Hainaut in Quaregnon and hopes to get back on the winning track.
