Regular Season Round 14: Rennes - La Rochelle 51-63

Date: December 15, 2012
Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Union Rennes (4-8) was defeated at home by eighth ranked La Rochelle (7-6) 63-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by La Rochelle. Union Rennes was better in third quarter 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Union Rennes to just 4 points in second quarter. It was a great shooting night for La Rochelle especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. British forward Andrew Thomson (205-84, college: Catawba) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Jarryd Cole (204-88, college: Iowa) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Forward Omar Sall (195-80) responded with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and Senegalese guard El Kabir Pene (190-84) scored 19 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. La Rochelle moved-up to seventh place. Union Rennes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the twelfth position with eight games lost. La Rochelle will have a break next round. Union Rennes will play on the road against JA Vichy (#4).
