Regular Season Round 14: Monaco - Quimper 77-61

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Monaco (6-6) beat at home higher ranked Quimper UJAP (9-4) 77-61 on Saturday. Quimper UJAP was trailing by 13 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 23-6 charge of Monaco, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Quimper UJAP to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Monaco looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Serbian-Bosnian center Nemanja Calasan (205-85, college: Purdue) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Anthony Christophe (190-83) chipped in 13 points and 12 assists during the contest. Four Monaco players scored in double figures. Spanish point guard Carlos Cherry (184-79, agency: Global Sports Plaza) responded with 17 points and 5 assists and Nigerian forward Corey Raji (198-88, college: Boston Coll., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Monaco moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Sorgues. Loser Quimper UJAP dropped to the third position with four games lost. Monaco will face league's leader Orchesien BC in Orchies in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Quimper UJAP will play at home against Blois and be promoted back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
