Very expected game when 14th ranked Perugia (4-9) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Omegna (7-7) 70-62 on Saturday. Perugia was trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 22-13 charge of Omegna, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Perugia was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was forward Stefano Masciadri (200-89) who scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Giacomo Mariani (191-86) chipped in 8 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Davide Poltroneri (195-85) who recorded 19 points and forward Simone Bonamente (203-79) added 11 points respectively. Perugia's coach Andrea Fabrizi tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Omegna moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Chieti and Bari. Loser Perugia dropped to the sixteenth position with nine games lost. Omegna will face higher ranked Castelletto (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Perugia will play against the league's second-placed Matera (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
