Regular Season Round 9: Armia - Dinamo Tbilisi 100-81

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: Armia (#4) and Dinamo Tbilisi (#6). Armia (6-2) crushed visiting Dinamo Tbilisi (4-4) by 19 points 100-81. The game was mostly controlled by Armia. Dinamo Tbilisi was better in fourth quarter 30-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Armia dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Dinamo Tbilisi's 32. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Dinamo Tbilisi's players. Armia brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. American forward Lamayn Wilson (204-80, college: Troy) nailed 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and the former international point guard Giorgi Gamqrelidze (183-86, agency: FCM) accounted for 12 points and 10 assists. Guard Beqa Chikviladze (195-91) came up with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and American forward Keyon Carter (203-88, college: ODU, agency: Two Points) added 18 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Dinamo Tbilisi in the defeat. Five Armia and four Dinamo Tbilisi players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 6-2 record. Dinamo Tbilisi at the other side keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Armia will play against Batumi (#8) at home in the next round. Dinamo Tbilisi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi MIA.
