We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (3-10) was defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked Arras (3-10) 71-62 on Saturday. Villeneuve D'Ascq trailed by 13 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 19-12 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 62-71 at the end of the game. Arras forced 22 Villeneuve D'Ascq turnovers. Strangely Villeneuve D'Ascq outrebounded Arras 37-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. The former international Johanne Gomis (179-85) fired 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international center Sandra Dijon (193-79) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. point guard Bintou Dieme (164-84) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and international power forward Jennifer Digbeu (190-87) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Arras moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Villeneuve. Arras will face higher ranked Lyon (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
