There was an upset when second-ranked Souffelweyersheim (9-4) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Blois (8-4) 79-73 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Souffelweyersheim won third quarter 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Blois made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Finnish forward Ville Kaunisto (205-82) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Gary Staelens (189-84) chipped in 16 points during the contest. Blois' coach Hugues Occansey used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Jeremy Tschamber (192-84) responded with 13 points and 6 assists and naturalized Chadian forward Jacques Alingue (201-88) scored 11 points. Blois maintains sixth position with 8-4 record. Loser Souffelweyersheim dropped to the third place with four games lost. Blois will face higher ranked Quimper UJAP (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Souffelweyersheim will play against Angers BC 49.
