Regular Season Round 12: Helsingborg - Malbas 57-55
Date: December 15, 2012
The most exciting game of round 12 in the Basketettan took place in Helsingborg. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-best Malbas (8-4) to eleventh ranked Helsingborg (2-9) 57-55 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Helsingborg made 7 blocks. 24 personal fouls committed by Malbas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Niklas Sellin (197-91) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 5 rebounds and forward Filip Sjostrom (198-90) who added 12 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Dwight Bankhead (181-83) with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and Kosovan power forward Korab Ferizi (201-85) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Malbas' coach Henrik Svensson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Helsingborg maintains eleventh position in South with 2-9 record. Malbas at the other side keep the second place with four games lost. They share the position with Brahe Basket and Haga Haninge. Helsingborg are looking forward to face higher ranked Brahe Basket (#3) in Huskvarna in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Malbas will play at home against the league's leader IK Eos where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
