Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Bayi Kylin (6-9) won against 11th ranked Henan Elephants (4-11) in Yinzhou 71-67 on Saturday. Bayi Kylin dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Henan Elephants' 30. It was an exceptional evening for international center Nan Chen (197-83) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. Center Mengran Sun (197-92) accounted for 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. American power forward Jayne Appel (193-88, college: Stanford) came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds and swingman Jie Sun (183-91) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Henan Elephants in the defeat. Bayi Kylin maintains ninth place with 6-9 record. Henan Elephants lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Bayi Kylin will meet at home league's second-placed Zhejiang Far East in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Henan Elephants will play against Guangdong Dolphins (#10) in Guangzhou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
