Second Stage Round 12: Obras - Boca Jrs 61-96
Date: December 16, 2012
15th ranked Obras (7-16) was outscored at home by ninth ranked Boca Juniors (13-11) with the biggest margin this round 96-61 on Sunday night. The game without a history. Boca Juniors led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Obras' players. Worth to mention a quality performance of naturalized American guard Phillip Hopson (188-87, college: Idaho) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and center Alejandro Diez (201-87) who added 13 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Boca Juniors players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Tomas Zanzottera (192-93) with 14 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Ryan Humphrey (203-79, college: Notre Dame) scored 13 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Boca Juniors have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place. Obras lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. Boca Juniors will face higher ranked Libertad Sunchales (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Obras will play against Quimsa (#6) in Santiado Estero.
