Very predictable result in Mar del Plata where fourth ranked Penarol (16-7) defeated 11th ranked Wuber-Est.Bahia (9-14) 82-76 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 6 points. Worth to mention a great performance of international power forward Leonardo Gutierrez (201-78) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 rebounds and international point guard Facundo Campazzo (179-91) who added 17 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward LaVell Blanchard (201-81, college: Michigan) with 21 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Jason Williams (197-83, college: UTEP, agency: Two Points) scored 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Wuber-Est.Bahia players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 16-7 record. Wuber-Est.Bahia lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth place with 14 games lost. Penarol will face Argentino (#7) in Junin in the next round.
