Regular Season Round 11: Aishin SH - Toyota Alvark 78-75

There was a change at the JBL leadership position after last games. Round 11 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Toyota Alvark (18-4). They were edged by second ranked Aishin Sea Horses (19-3) 78-75 on Sunday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-13. But Toyota Alvark won second period 26-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Aishin Sea Horses won last quarter 22-21. They made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for the former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 6 rebounds. Jamaican center Kevin Young (206-84, college: Missouri) helped adding 11 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) responded with 27 points and 8 rebounds and international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Toyota Alvark's coach Don Beck rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aishin Sea Horses have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Defending champion Toyota Alvark dropped to the second place with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Aishin SH. Toyota Alvark will play next round against Toshiba Thunders trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Aishin Sea Horses will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Tochigi Brex on the road.
