Rather expected game when 5th ranked Panteras (22-10) lost to third ranked Toros (25-7) in Nuevo Laredo 97-103. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Toros shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Toney McCray (198-89, college: Nebraska, agency: Interperformances) who scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: ProSportsCareers) chipped in 25 points. Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) produced 35 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and Panamanian power forward Antonio Garcia (203-76, college: Ky Wesleyan) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Toros have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Soles. Panteras at the other side keep the fifth position with ten games lost. Toros' next round opponent will be Pioneros (#6) in Cancun. Panteras will play at home against Halcones Rojos in Veracruz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
