Regular Season Round 21: Niigata Albirex - Chiba Jets 74-70

Rather predictable result when third ranked Niigata Albirex (13-6) defeated at home 7th ranked Chiba Jets (8-10) 74-70 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Chiba Jets were trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 24-17 charge of Niigata Albirex, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Niigata Albirex especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. American guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Yuichi Ikeda (192-83) chipped in 22 points. The best for the losing side was American center Joe Werner (201-84, college: Wisc.-La Cros.) with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import swingman D'Andre Bell (198-87, college: Georgia Tech) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Niigata Albirex maintains third place with 13-6 record behind leader Okinawa GK. Chiba Jets lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with ten games lost. Niigata Albirex will face Gunma (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Chiba Jets will play against Yokohama BC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
