Very important is a road loss of third ranked M.Magixx (10-5) against fourth ranked Groningen (10-5) on Sunday night. Visiting M.Magixx was defeated by Groningen in a tough game in Groningen 87-91. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of M.Magixx. The hosts were already 12 points ahead at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 31-17 last quarter charge of M.Magixx cut the lead to 91-87 at the end of the game. Groningen shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Jason Dourisseau (196-83, college: Nebraska) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side the former international power forward Nick Oudendag (210-87) responded with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Ghanian-American guard Kwadzo Ahelegbe (187-88, college: N.Iowa) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 assists. Five Groningen and four M.Magixx players scored in double figures. Groningen moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated M.Magixx. Groningen will play against Leeuwarden (#5) on the road in the next round. M.Magixx will play against the league's second-placed Leiden and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
