Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Flamengo (5-0) defeated 15th ranked Mogi das Cruzes (2-6) in Rio de Janeiro 70-64 on Monday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Mogi das Cruzes was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 17-10 charge of Flamengo, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Flamengo made 7 blocks. The former international forward Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points and 8 rebounds.
