Regular Season Round 10: Samedicino - Sokhumi 71-85

Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Tbilisi: Sokhumi (#10) and Samedicino-Academia (#9). Samedicino-Academia was defeated at home 71-85 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Center Vakhtang Kadaria (205-89, college: Mineral Area CC) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 20 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 blocks for the winners. Forward Irakli Chlaidze (199-89) chipped in 25 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Four Sokhumi players scored in double figures. Center Giorgi Revazashvili (208-91) produced 23 points and 8 rebounds and center Giorgi Periashvili (210-91) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Sokhumi (2-7) moved-up to ninth place. Loser Samedicino-Academia dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Sokhumi will face higher ranked Kutaisi (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Samedicino-Academia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi MIA.
