Very predictable result in Valladolid where second ranked Caja Laboral (10-3) smashed 11th ranked Blancos de Rueda (6-7) 93-71 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Caja Laboral. Blancos de Rueda was better in second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Caja Laboral shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. Polish-Swedish power forward Maciej Lampe (211-85) stepped up and scored 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and German center Tibor Pleiss (215-89) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side forward Nacho Martin (205-83) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and Liberian-American forward Othello Hunter (203-86, college: Ohio St., agency: David Lee services) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Caja Laboral. They maintain second place with 10-3 record having just three points less than leader Real Madrid. Loser Blancos de Rueda keeps the eleventh position with seven games lost. Caja Laboral will face CB Canarias (#14) in Tenerife in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Blancos de Rueda will play at home against G.Canaria 2014 in Las Palmas.
