Regular Season Round 17: Nova Ves - Inter Bratislava 74-65
Date: December 19, 2012
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Nova Ves (10-6) beat at home 6th ranked Inter Bratislava (6-9) 74-65. It looked good early as Inter Bratislava took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Nova Ves had a 21-12 second period charge getting the lead and Inter Bratislava was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-74. Serbian power forward Aco Mandic (204-84) stepped up and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and American power forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds. Burke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Nova Ves' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international power forward Martin Rancik (204-78, college: Iowa St.) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Justin Graham (193-88, college: San Jose St.) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nova Ves maintains third place with 10-6 record having just two points less than leader Komarno, which they share with Nitra. Inter Bratislava lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with nine games lost. Nova Ves will play against Handlova (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Inter Bratislava will play against the league's second-placed Levice and hopes to get back on the winning track.
