Regular Season Round 33: Lechugueros - Gigantes 86-80

Rather predictable result in Leon where twelfth ranked Lechugueros (11-22) defeated bottom-ranked Gigantes (3-30) 86-80 on Thursday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 29-26. But Gigantes won second period 18-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Trinidad and Tobago-American point guard Ian Young (191-81, college: Auburn) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!) and 9 assists for the winners and Senegalese center Babacar Camara (211-81, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Five Lechugueros players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Jermaine Johnson (201-85, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import power forward Joseph Kennerly (204-84, college: Cent.Oklahoma) scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. Lechugueros maintains twelfth place with 11-22 record. Newly promoted Gigantes stay dead last with 30 lost games. Lechugueros will face Osos (#15) in the next round. Gigantes will play against Abejas in Guanajuato.
