Very important is a road loss of second ranked Toyota Alvark (19-5) against fifth ranked Toshiba Thunders (12-12) on Friday night. Visiting Toyota Alvark was defeated by Toshiba Thunders in a tough game in Kanagawa 77-81. Toyota Alvark was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 25-17 third quarter run of Toshiba Thunders. It was a good game for American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) contributed with 18 points for the winners. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) added 15 points in the effort for Toyota Alvark. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Toshiba Thunders maintains fifth position with 12-12 record. Toyota Alvark lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the second place with five games lost. Toshiba Thunders will play against bottom-ranked Hokkaido L. (#8) in Saporro in the next round. Toyota Alvark's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena Hitachi Sunrockers.
