Regular Season Round 10: Segle XXI - Casablanca 57-63

Not a big story in a game in Barcelona where 10th ranked Segle XXI (3-7) was defeated by second ranked Casablanca (7-3) 63-57 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Segle XXI won third quarter 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Casablanca won last quarter 17-13. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Segle XXI's 26. Center Marta Garcia (193-86) fired 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Carolina Esparcia (178-95) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Casablanca players scored in double figures. point guard Angela Salvadores (175-97) produced 17 points and center Judith Sole (190-95) added 7 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Casablanca maintains second position in Group B with 7-3 record behind leader Pais Vasco, which they share with Real Canoe and Alcobendas. Segle XXI lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with seven games lost. Casablanca will face Real Canoe (#3) in Madrid in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Segle XXI will play on the road against Las Gaunas (#8) in Logrono and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
