No shocking result in a game in Kanagawa where second ranked Toyota Alvark (19-5) defeated 5th ranked Toshiba Thunders (12-12) 71-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Toshiba Thunders was better in third quarter 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Toshiba Thunders to just 6 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Toshiba Thunders 44-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Chris Moss (204-80, college: W.Virginia) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second position with 19-5 record behind leader Aishin SH.
