There was a surprise result when tenth ranked San Salvatore (6-7) edged at home higher ranked Alghero (6-7) 72-69 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 40-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. San Salvatore forced 25 Alghero turnovers. Bulgarian forward Roksana Yordanova (184-84) stepped up and scored 21 points for the winners and point guard Anna Lussu (163-85) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side guard Marika Zanardi (175-81) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Sara Farris (166-85) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. San Salvatore moved-up to seventh place in North, which they share with defeated Alghero. San Salvatore will face Cremona (#12) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
