Very expected game in Tokyo where 8th ranked Hokkaido L. (3-21) was rolled over by fourth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (14-10) 87-55 on Saturday. The game without a history. Hitachi Sunrockers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Hokkaido L.'s 24. The best player for the winners was international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) who scored 14 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Five Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was international forward Daisuke Noguchi (196-83) who recorded 14 points and the former international guard Takehiko Orimo (190-70) added 10 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Hitachi Sunrockers have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Panasonic T. Hokkaido L. lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Hitachi Sunrockers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Toyota Alvark.
