The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Niigata Albirex as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Niigata Albirex smashed 10th ranked Gunma at home 93-56. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Gunma. Niigata Albirex looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of center Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont, agency: Top Notch Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Rodney Webb (200-83, college: Florida Atlantic) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Guard Jermaine Dixon (191-87, college: Pittsburgh) replied with 13 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Lewis Witcher (207-87, college: Virginia Tech) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Gunma. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Niigata Albirex have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Gunma keeps the tenth place with 17 games lost. Gunma will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Niigata Albirex will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Gunma at home.
