Leader Halcones UV Xalapa delivered the thirtyth victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Panteras (22-12) 82-75 in Aguascalientes. Panteras were ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 27-16 third quarter run of Halcones UV Xalapa. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Victor Mariscal (198-72) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) contributed with 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Halcones UV Xalapa players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) replied with 41 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and Panamanian power forward Antonio Garcia (203-76, college: Ky Wesleyan) added 8 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Panteras. Halcones UV Xalapa (30-4) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Panteras lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Pioneros. Halcones UV Xalapa will play against Huracanes (#7) in Tampico in the next round where they are favorite. Panteras will play on the road against Gigantes in Toluca and hope to get back on the winning track.
