There was no surprise when 6th ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (5-5) was defeated on the road by second ranked Oviedo CB (7-3) 75-61. Fontedoso Carrefour was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 37-22 second half run of Oviedo CB. Oviedo CB dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Fontedoso Carrefour's 24. They outrebounded Fontedoso Carrefour 43-29 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (200-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. point guard Francisco Cardenas (177-90) accounted for 11 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Four Oviedo CB players scored in double figures. Naturalized Senegalese center Moussa Diagne (210-94) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Pablo Fernandez (188-93) added 14 points respectively for Fontedoso Carrefour in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Oviedo CB. Oviedo CB maintains second place with 7-3 record behind leader Guadalajara. Fontedoso Carrefour at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Oviedo CB will have a break next round. Fontedoso Carrefour will play on the road against Lan Mobel ISB (#7) in Azpeitia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
