Townsville Fire (#4) was upset in Sydney by seventh ranked Sydney Uni Flames 86-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Townsville Fire. The game was mostly controlled by Sydney Uni Flames. Townsville Fire was better in fourth quarter 24-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Townsville Fire 35-22 including a 23-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Sydney Uni Flames especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The winners were led by American swingman April Sykes (182-90, college: Rutgers, agency: Two Points) who scored that evening 22 points and international guard Alicia Poto (166-78) supported her with 16 points and 4 assists. Even 10 points and 7 rebounds by Spanish center Jessica Adair (193-86, college: G.Washington, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Townsville Fire. The former international guard Jess Foley (182-83, college: Duke) added 13 points. Five Sydney Uni Flames and four Townsville Fire players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sydney Uni Flames (5-10) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Canberra C. and Logan T. Townsville Fire at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Sydney Uni Flames will play against league's second-placed Dandenong Rangers at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Townsville Fire will play against Adelaide Lightning and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
