Regular Season Round 22: Miyazaki SS - Fukuoka Rizing 67-69

Ninth-ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns (3-18) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Fukuoka Rizing (14-7) on Saturday. The visitors from Fukuoka managed to secure only two-point victory 69-67. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Miyazaki Shining Suns won fourth quarter 19-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Miyazaki Shining Suns 55-33 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for Trinidad and Tobago power forward Julius Ashby (205-82, college: Colorado) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida, agency: Court Side) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) replied with 21 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Thomas Fairley (206-82, college: Lamar) added 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks in the effort for Miyazaki Shining Suns. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Fukuoka Rizing have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Shimane SM. Loser Miyazaki Shining Suns keep the ninth position with 18 games lost. Fukuoka Rizing will have a break next round. Miyazaki Shining Suns will play again at home against Fukuoka Rizing (#4).
