There was no surprise in Vitoria where 14th ranked CB Canarias (4-10) was crushed by second ranked Caja Laboral (11-3) 81-62 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Caja Laboral. CB Canarias was better in third quarter 10-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Caja Laboral forced 20 CB Canarias turnovers and outrebounded them 38-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Polish-Swedish power forward Maciej Lampe (211-85) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. International swingman Fernando San Emeterio (198-84) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Caja Laboral players scored in double figures. Argentinian-Italian point guard Nicolas Richotti (181-86) produced 17 points and the former international power forward Ricardo Guillen (205-76) added 7 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Caja Laboral have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-3 record having just three points less than leader Real Madrid. Newly promoted CB Canarias keeps the fourteenth place with ten games lost. Caja Laboral will face Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#15) in Madrid in the next round which should be an easy win for them. CB Canarias will play at home against Assignia Manresa.
