Very important is a home loss of second ranked Hapoel Eilat (7-3) against tenth ranked Bnei Hasharon (4-6) on Sunday night. Host Hapoel Eilat was defeated by Bnei Hasharon in a tough game in Eilat 77-83. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hapoel Eilat. Hapoel Eilat was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 43-34 second half run of Bnei Hasharon. Hapoel Eilat was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. Forward Derrick Caracter (206-88, college: UTEP) had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Jumaine Jones (203-79, college: Georgia) chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Eli Holman (208-89, college: Detroit Mercy) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and guard Scotty Hopson (200-89, college: Tennessee) scored 23 points. Hapoel Eilat's coach Oded Katash rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bnei Hasharon moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Elizur Ashkelon. Newly promoted Hapoel Eilat keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Maccabi Haifa. Bnei Hasharon will play against league's leader Maccabi T-A in Tel-Aviv in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Hapoel Eilat will play on the road against Hapoel J-M in Jerusalem and hopes to get back on the winning track.
