Umana Venezia (5-7) survived in overtime against Juvecaserta (5-7) by six points 83-77 on Sunday night. The game took place in Caserta. But the guests from Venezia were better at the end. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 19-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-8. Umana Venezia made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Polish center Szymon Szewczyk (209-82) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Guido Rosselli (198-83) who added 10 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Lithuanian forward Zygimantas Jonusas (200-82) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St.) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Umana Venezia moved-up to tenth place, which they share with JuveCaserta. Umana Venezia will meet at home higher ranked Montepaschi Siena (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Juvecaserta will play against Air Avellino (#15) and hope to secure a win.
