Regular Season Round 12: Trenkwalder RE - Sidigas AV 91-64
Date: December 23, 2012
There was no surprise in Reggio Emilia where 15th ranked Air Avellino (3-9) was crushed by tenth ranked Trenkwalder RE (6-6) 91-64 on Sunday. The game without a history. Trenkwalder RE led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Trenkwalder RE forced 28 Air Avellino turnovers. Strangely Air Avellino outrebounded Trenkwalder RE 34-22. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Michele Antonutti (202-86) who scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. International point guard Andrea Cinciarini (190-86) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Trenkwalder RE's coach Massimiliano Menetti felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Linton Johnson (203-80, college: Tulane, agency: Priority Sports) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and Bulgarian forward Kaloyan Ivanov (205-86, agency: Beo Basket) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Trenkwalder RE moved-up to seventh place, which they share with EA7 Armani and SAIE3 BO. Air Avellino lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with nine games lost. Trenkwalder RE will face higher ranked Cantu (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Air Avellino will play against Juvecaserta (#11) in Caserta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
