The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Niigata Albirex as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Niigata Albirex defeated 10th ranked Gunma at home 89-80. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 50-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Niigata Albirex made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for center Chris Holm (212-84, college: Vermont, agency: Top Notch Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 20 rebounds. Guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) helped adding 14 points and 5 assists. Guard Jermaine Dixon (191-87, college: Pittsburgh) responded with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and power forward Lewis Witcher (207-87, college: Virginia Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Five Niigata Albirex and four Gunma players scored in double figures. Gunma's coach Ryan Blackwell rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Niigata Albirex have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Gunma keeps the tenth place with 18 games lost. Gunma will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Niigata Albirex will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Shinshu BW in Nagano.
