The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Umana Reyer as it allowed them to take a leadership position in North. Umana Reyer edged 5th ranked Marghera in Venezia 66-65. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Marghera won third quarter 17-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Umana Reyer won last quarter 18-18. They also forced 21 Marghera turnovers. Romanian forward Simina Mandache (185-81) nailed 23 points and 8 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) for the winning side and point guard Debora Carangelo (167-92) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds. Umana Reyer's coach Andrea Liberalotto allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. point guard Sara Innocenti (170-92) came up with 17 points and guard Marta Savelli (175-82) added 12 points respectively for Marghera in the defeat. Umana Reyer (12-1) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Marghera at the other side keeps the fifth place with four games lost. Marghera will play next round against Udine trying to get back on the winning streak. Umana Reyer will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Muggia on the road.
