The most exciting game of round 12 in the SerieA took place in Roma. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Lottomatica Roma (7-5) to second ranked Banco di Sard. (10-2) 83-81 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lottomatica Roma. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 30-25 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Lottomatica Roma outrebounded Banco di Sard. 42-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Travis Diener (184-82, college: Marquette) who scored 15 points and 6 assists. The other American import guard Drake Diener (196-81, college: De Paul, agency: Priority Sports) chipped in 22 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Banco di Sard.'s coach Romeo Sacchetti used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Nigerian power forward Gani Lawal (205-88, college: Georgia Tech) who recorded a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field) and international forward Luigi Datome (203-87) added 19 points respectively. Banco di Sard. have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 10-2 record behind leader Cimberio VA, which they share with Montepaschi. Lottomatica Roma at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Enel Brindisi. Banco di Sard. is looking forward to face SAIE3 BO (#8) in Bologna in the next round where they are favorite. Lottomatica Roma will play on the road against Enel Brindisi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
