Regular Season Round 18: Jiangsu - Beijing 80-77

The most exciting game of round 18 in the WCBA took place in Yixing. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Beijing Great Wall (9-9) to fourth ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (11-7) 80-77 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Beijing Great Wall. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-77. It was a good game for international guard ShanShan Li (177-87) who led her team to a victory with 28 points and 4 assists. American center Krystal Thomas (195-89, college: Duke) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American forward Sophia Young (186-83, college: Baylor) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds and international forward Fan Zhang (188-84) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Beijing Great Wall. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Jiangsu Phoenix moved-up to third place, which they share with Liaoning and Shenyang. Beijing Great Wall at the other side dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Jiangsu Phoenix is looking forward to face Shanghai Octopus (#6) on the road in the next round. Beijing Great Wall will play against Guangdong Dolphins in Guangzhou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
