Regular Season Round 35: Gansos - Soles 94-97

Fourteenth-ranked Gansos (6-30) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Soles (26-9) in Ciudad de Mexico. The visitors from Mexicali managed to secure only three-point victory 97-94. However their fans expected much easier game. Gansos cut a 17-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. Gansos were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Panamanian forward Jamelle Horne (200-88, college: Arizona) who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Roman Martinez (201-88, college: N.Mexico) helped adding 23 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) responded with 36 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Nigerian-American center Nkem Nweke (208-88, college: N.Mexico) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Soles maintains fourth place with 26-9 record. Gansos lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifteenth position with 30 games lost. Soles will play against Guerreros (#13) in Chilpancingo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gansos will play at home against Pioneros in Cancun and hope to get back on the winning track.
