Regular Season Round 35: Toros - Lechugueros 76-66

Very expected game when 12th ranked Lechugueros (12-23) lost to second ranked Toros (28-7) in Nuevo Laredo 66-76. The game was mostly controlled by Toros. Lechugueros was better in third quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toros forced 21 Lechugueros turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: ProSportsCareers) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Toney McCray (198-89, college: Nebraska, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Toros' coach Jose Martinez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Trinidad and Tobago-American point guard Ian Young (191-81, college: Auburn) produced 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Senegalese center Babacar Camara (211-81, college: CS Fullerton) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Toros. They maintain second place with 28-7 record having just three points less than leader Halc.Xalapa. Lechugueros at the other side keep the twelfth position with 23 games lost. Toros' next round opponent will be Abejas (#9) in Guanajuato and are hoping to win another game. Lechugueros will play on the road against Fuerza Regia in Monterrey.
