Regular Season Round 17: St Quentin - Denain 97-81

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Saint-Quentin (9-8) won against at home 16th ranked Denain Voltaire (5-12) 97-81 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Saint-Quentin. Denain Voltaire managed to win fourth quarter 26-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Saint-Quentin forced 19 Denain Voltaire turnovers. Power forward Julien Lesieu (201-83) stepped up and scored 14 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners and swingman Kevin Bichard (195-86) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Spanish center Rafael Lopez (204-86) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and guard Xavier Gaillou (192-89) scored 13 points and 7 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Saint-Quentin maintains seventh place with 9-8 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Denain Voltaire lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Charleville. Saint-Quentin is looking forward to face higher ranked Chalons-Reims (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Denain Voltaire will play against SO Maritime Boulogne (#6) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
