Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked ALM Evreux and 5th ranked Le Portel had identical 11-5 record. This time ALM Evreux used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Le Portel 78-70 on Friday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Le Portel won third quarter 18-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when ALM Evreux won last quarter 23-16. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Le Portel's players. 25 personal fouls committed by Le Portel helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American power forward Jeremiah Wood (200-85, agency: Court Side) stepped up and scored 25 points and 8 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Clevin Hannah (180-87, college: Wichita St., agency: Court Side) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Four ALM Evreux players scored in double figures. Jamaican-American Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Charles-Henri Bronchard (200-82, agency: Court Side) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. ALM Evreux maintains third place with 12-5 record behind leader Pau-Lacq-Orthez, which they share with Chalons-Reims. Loser Le Portel keeps the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Boulogne. ALM Evreux is looking forward to face Hyeres-Toulon (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Le Portel will play against Aix-Maurienne (#8) in Aix-les-Bains and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
