The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Asseco Prok. as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (PGE Turow) loss. Asseco Prok. smashed 8th ranked Kotwica in Gdynia 85-61. Asseco Prok. forced 19 Kotwica turnovers and outrebounded them 41-28 including 26 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Austrian-Slovenian center Rasid Mahalbasic (211-90) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Jerel Blassingame (175-81, college: UNLV) chipped in 18 points and 11 assists during the contest. Asseco Prok.'s coach Andrzej Adamek felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Grzegorz Arabas (190-78, agency: Promotex) responded with 21 points and guard Jaroslaw Zyskowski (201-92, agency: Promotex) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Asseco Prok. have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with PGE Turow and Trefl Sopot. Kotwica at the other side dropped to the tenth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Start Gdynia. Kotwica will play next round against strong Trefl Sopot trying to get back on the winning streak. Asseco Prok. will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Stelmet ZG at Zielona Gora.
